I don't like getting political on stuffs, but really though, You guys need to understand there is a huge difference between being a "patriot" and being a "partisan hack". As an American who has been a lifelong democrat myself, I can responsively tell you, partisanship shares no resemblance to patriotism. In fact let me tell you this, most democrats from my state of Maine support progressive policies such as Medicare for all, 15 dollar minimum wage, Federal job guarantee, Student loan debt cancellation etc, we see ourselves as the progressive force that drives this nation forward, but to our brothers and sisters in the south, some of them may see us as the people who are trying to bring communism to this "holy land" of freedom. and yeah understandably so, people have different perspectives, because everyone of us is an individual. You should never generalize anyone as a part of a group. But still I think we should have a mutual understanding that all of us are trying to preserve the best and mend the flaws of this nation, but by different ways. People who support building a border wall are no more of the patriots than people who are trying to make medicare for all a reality in America, just like people who burn down our flag to raise awareness of racial and civil issues in our nation are no less of the patriots who served in the war.
Well anyway, sorry for a long paragraph of my mumbling here, but I do want to express this to you guys. it's my personal opinion though I don't have a deep understanding of your nation so please do not be offended or anything.
